Understanding PDF Encryption
PDF files can be protected with two types of passwords: an "Owner" password (which restricts editing, printing, and copying) and a "User" password (which prevents the file from being opened at all). Standard PDF encryption uses AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) with 128-bit or 256-bit keys, making the files highly secure against brute-force attacks.
How Our Unlock Tool Works
If a PDF is locked with a User password, you must know the password to decrypt it. Our tool allows you to enter the password, decrypts the file locally in your browser, and then saves a new, permanently unlocked version. This is incredibly useful for bank statements or pay stubs that you need to upload to portals that don't accept password-protected files.
