Why PDFs Become Too Large
PDF files often balloon in size because they contain unoptimized, high-resolution images or embedded fonts. When you scan a document, the scanner typically saves each page as a massive high-DPI image wrapped in a PDF container. A 10-page scanned contract can easily exceed 20MB, making it impossible to attach to standard emails or upload to web portals with strict file size limits.
How PDF Compression Works
Our PDF compressor works primarily by targeting the embedded images within the document. It downsamples (resizes) images to a web-friendly resolution (typically 144 or 72 DPI) and applies JPEG compression to reduce the byte size of the image data. Crucially, the actual text and vector elements in the PDF remain sharp and untouched, ensuring the document remains perfectly legible while dramatically reducing the overall file size.
